BOX OFFICE: Restricted Growth For ‘Goa Goa Gone’ In Opening Weekend

Saif Ali Khan’s Illuminati Films’ ‘Go Goa Gone’, starring Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Anand Tewari and Pooja Gupta has picked up the pace, if ever so slightly, in its opening weekend at the box office.

MUMBAI: Illuminati Films’ ‘Go Goa Gone’, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, starring Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Anand Tewari and Pooja Gupta, saw only a slight growth its opening weekend at the box office.

The film, which released on 10 May, Friday, managed to received rave reviews from critics for its unique zombie comedy concept. However, as reported, these reviews failed to translate into numbers on Day 1, with ‘Go Goa Gone’ raking in approximately Rs 37.5 million (Rs 3.75 crore) net. This is a dull figure for such a heavily promoted and marketed film.

Understandably, the niche market film did better business in multiplexes of metros.

Over the weekend, on Day 2 and Day 3, the film managed to pick up the pace only slightly, with figures in the range of Rs 41.8 million (Rs 4.18 crore) net and Rs 46.5 million (Rs 4.65 crore) net respectively.

The three day total of ‘Go Goa Gone’ stands at about Rs 125.8 million (Rs 12.58 crore) net.
