Box Office: Shaadi Ke Side Effects – First Weekend Collection

SHAADI KE SIDE EFFECTS FBShaadi Ke Side Effects which was released on February 28, 2014 opened with a decent 30 to 35 percent hits in the morning shows across the country which increased by the evening thanks to a good word of mouth.

As compared to the opening weekend collections of Hasee Toh Phasee and Highway, Shaadi Ke Side Effects did comparatively better business at the Box Office.

Following a slow start on the first day, Shaadi Ke Side Effects managed to collect approximately Rs 208 million (20.8 crore) nett on its opening weekend. It’s breakup is Rs 57 million (5.70 crore) nett on Friday, Rs 71 million (7.10 crore) nett on Saturday and Rs 80 million (8.00 crore) nett on Sunday at the Box Office in its opening weekend.

The collections reportedly came mostly from multiplexes because single screens have earned poor response.

In the year 2006, Saket Chaudhary’s Pyaar Ke Side Effects, starring Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat had an astounding opening at the Box Office but in 2014 its sequel Shaadi Ke Side Effects has been a slow starter.

Shaadi Ke Side Effects explores the relationship of a young married couple played Sid and Trisha essayed by Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan respectively. The happily married couple’s life changes when they find that Trisha is pregnant.

Indeed Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan are the soul of Shaadi Ke Side Effects with a superb first half but the second half of the film is a huge led down. The film has some interesting performances by Ram Kapoor, Purab Kolhi and Vir Das.

Director Saket Chaudhary’s Shaadi Ke Side Effects, goes skidding off the rails, because what should have been a glib and breezy hundred minute romcom runs aground with side plots and unnecessary drama.

Now with three films releasing this week (March 07, 2014), Gulaab Gang, Total Siyapaa and Queen, it’s going to be a tough road ahead for Shaadi Ke Side Effects.
