Box Office: Ungli Makes For A Flop Show

Ungli-Collections (1)With the results witnessed at the box office since a month now with films like, The Shaukeens, Kill Dil, Happy Ending and Ungli, it is much clear that films won’t ride on star power or the banner. Dharma Productions Ungli released on November 28, 2014 has turned out to be flop with its net collection of Rs. 25 crores (Rs 250 million) approximately. The movie saw a bad first weekend with the collection of Rs. 9 crores (Rs 90 million) at the Indian box office; which surely is not at all an impressive figure for a movie coming from Dharma Productions.
Followed by Ajay Devgn’s Prabhu Dheva directed, Action Jackson which stood as a tough competitor too have fallen in the same league, but it managed to rake in numbers in advance booking.  Though, Ungli had a slow start, it was expected to pick up in the following days, but the failed attempt of execution further stooped its business; which indicated its short run on the screens.
Having raised expectations of a genuine entertainer with a hard-hitting subject of corruption, Ungli, turned out to be a disappointer. Directed by Rensil D’silva who gave us movies like Rang De Basanti and Kurbaan, Ungli did not match up to the expectations. Starring Kangana Ranaut, Emraan Hashmi, Sanjay Dutt, Randeep Hooda and Neil Bhoopalam the movie has failed at the box office.
After having a disappointing November, the first week of December too has caused a dismay. And the only film that could now save the jarring box office and give audiences value for their money with a genuine entertainment is Rajkumar Hirani’s Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer PK, the much awaited and now much needed for box office, releasing on December 19, 2014.
