BOX OFFICE: ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ Trudges Along, As ‘YJHD’ Blazes On

‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ produced by Dharmendra, and directed by Sangeeth Sivan, starring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in leading roles, has witnessed a lacklustre opening weekend at the box office.

MUMBAI: ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ produced by Dharmendra, and directed by Sangeeth Sivan, starring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in leading roles, has witnessed a mediocre opening weekend at the box office.

‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’, which released last Friday on 7 June, 2013, managed to rake in only approximately Rs 77.6 million (Rs 7.76 crore) net on opening day.

Since then, the film has lagged behind ever so slightly, doing a business of approximately Rs 63.5 million (Rs 6.35 crore) net on Saturday. The situation looked a tad bit brighter on Sunday, with the film raking in about Rs 80 million (Rs 8 crore net) on Sunday.

The three day total is in the range of Rs 221.1 million (22.11 crore) net, quite a dismal figure for such a heavily promoted and marketed film.

Understandably, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ did better business in the territories of Punjab, Delhi.

With audiences still choosing ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ (currently in its second week) over ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’, and critics too panning the film, it is yet to be seen whether the Deol film can pick up the pace over the coming week.
