MUMBAI: A Mumbai sessions court today, framed charges against Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case. The actor will now be charged for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Salman Khan has pleaded not guilty in court. If found guilty, Salman Khan will have to spend upto ten years in jail.
But the actor can have a breather as he has been exempted from making frequent appearances in the court for further trials. The next hearing has been scheduled for 19 August. Salman’s plea of an exemption has been granted but he shall have to be present whenever the court asks him to, said his lawyer.
The trials are going to be a long process and with Salman Khan completing his acting assignments, ‘Mental’ (Jai Ho!), ‘Kick’ this exemption surely comes as a big relief.
The Mumbai Sessions court also announced that a different judge will hear the case.
Earlier, Salman Khan was tried for a lesser sentence (causing death by negligence), which was dismissed by the court after examining 17 witnesses in the case.
With the trail stated to begin on 19 August, looks like Salman Khan will now have to visit the court whenever asked. It surely must be a moment of mixed emotions for the actor.
