Das Entertainment beefs up expansion plans

MUMBAI: Das Entertainment is now in expansion mode. The company, which owns a music label called Das Music, has also ventured into film production. Das Entertainment will be aggressively producing movies in the regional space and will have one Bollywood film on the floor too.


 


Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Das Entertainment managing director Dhianu Das says, “We are going the big way. We have been acquiring the music rights of many films and now we are going to be producing our own films.”


 


Currently the company has three Rajasthani, one Oriya and one Bhojpuri film on floors and will also be starting a Marathi film soon.


 


Adds Das, “Shakti Kapoor will be acting in our Rajasthani film for the first time. We are working with all the top stars in the regional space.”


 


The budget for these films is in the region of Rs 5 – 6 million (Rs 50 – 60 lakhs). On the other hand, the Oriya film will be made on a budget of Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore).


 

The company also has a Hindi film on the roll, titled Osama, which will be directed by Faisal Saif. “This film is budgeted for Rs 20 to 25 million (Rs 2 – 2.5 crores) and singer Anup Jalota is co-producing the film.”
