Dev Anand too to make a film on Jessica Lal murder case!

Mumbai: Earlier we had reported about Ujwal Chaterjee’s film Utthan based on model Jessica Lal’s murder case. The film has been certified by the censors with a U certificate.

Now it is learnt that filmmaker Dev Anand too is planning a film on the same case. Titled as Chargesheet, the film will be shot non-stop in Mahableshwar. Since another film is being made, won’t it jeopardise the box-office returns? “When I decide to make a film straight from my heart, then I am not concerned about the box-office returns. I make movies because I love making them and it keeps me happy and young.”

Dismissing the claims that he is making a film on the infamous case just to garner publicity, Dev Anand says, “My intention is to touch upon events that concern society in general and spread a message through it. You see Dev Anand’s films are always inspired by real life. My last film Prime Minister too was set against the backdrop of Gujarat earthquake.” It is reliably learnt from a dependable source that presently the film is budgeted at Rs. 2.5 crore (Rs. 25 million)

Currently the evergreen actor – filmmaker is busy with his International film, When Heartbeats Are The Same. The film will be shot in Croatia and will have Indian and Croatian cast and crew.
