EXCLUSIVE: Amitabh Bachchan: ‘Satyagraha’ Not A Copy Of Tamil Film

Amitabh Bachchan and director Prakash Jha, say at the trailer launch of Satyagraha that the film is not a copy of a Tamil film.

MUMBAI: There have been reports going around that Prakash Jha is becoming a formulaic filmmaker and ‘Satyagraha’ follows a similar route. The latest that one has heard, is that the film is heavily borrowed from a Tamil super hit ‘KO’ directed by K.V. Anand.

At the global trailer launch of ‘Satyagraha’ in Mumbai, yesterday, Amitabh Bachchan and Prakash Jha denied that the film is a copy.

“KO is a story about a photographer, while Satyagraha is a story about a relationship between a father and son,” said Prakash Jha.

“There are no similarities at all and ‘Satyagraha’ is a completely different film,” he added.

Present at the trailer launch were Amitabh Bachchan, Prakash Jha, Amrita Rao, Manoj Bajpayee and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor also joined the launch via video conferencing in London, where they interacted with the London media.

‘Satyagraha’ produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Prakash Jha Productions will hit theatres on 23 August, 2013.
