Exclusive: Mirzya Actor Harshvardhan Kapoor Expresses His Views On Nudity And Future Films

Harshvardhan Kapoor will soon make his debut with the film ‘Mirzya’. The film is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and also starsSaiyami Kher in a lead role. The movie is all set to hit the screens on October 7th, 2016. Harshvardhan spoke his heart out with Business Of Cinema on his views on doing intimate scenes, working in ‘Mirzya’ and future films.

On choosing Mirzya,

Nothing was intentional, it was the opportunity to work with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and whatever he does he is going to do imagine it in a certain way that is different, also Gulzar has written the script. So that was enough for me to do this film. It was the best way to enter into the industry.

Music of the film overpowering the script

The music of the film is a part of the film’s script actually, it’s like when you read the script of the film it’s like there is a scene then there is lyrics then again there is a scene it goes like that. The lyrics are part of the screenplay. Some are songs; some are voiceovers; some are in the form of dialogues. They are story telling musical motifs. If the music works the film works. The story is in the lyrics.

Character in the movie

It was not as easy as a Bombay boy, for Mirzya you have to use your imagination a lot, what you think he would be like, because there were too many references and for Adil, we visited a lot of people who do what he does.

Intimate scenes in future films

I’m okay to do anything. I’ll do sex scenes, nudity. I am very comfortable with my body. Obviously I’ll prepare for it if I know beforehand that I am taking my shirt off and I have to look lean or I have to look fat or whatever. It depends on the character. We have some very intimate scenes in Mirzya. Chakora the song is a full love making song. So I am very open to it. I don’t feel conscious.

Kept a low profile before the film

It was good actually and I feel it’s working now. It was intentional to like not be out so early.

Anil Kapoor’s advice

I think that acting is something like you cannot tell somebody how to do it. Because every actor will have their individualistic idea of how to play a certain scene and that’s what makes you natural. At the end of the day, it’s the director’s vision. He (director) is the only person who can collaborate in.

Reserved nature amidst the lenses

I just want to be myself. This is who I am, like in interviews and all I am really good as I enjoy talking to people but I’m not a social animal I am not an extrovert.

Future films strategy

I want to work with best directors because I genuinely believe it’s the director’s vision. Like a director won’t come to you with a script unless and until they feel you are right for a certain character.
