MUMBAI: In a move that will certainly be a fillip to the film’s fortunes, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s inspiring biopic ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has been granted tax-free status in the state of Haryana.

After being declared tax-free in states like Maharashtra, Delhi, Goa and Madhya Pradesh, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has now received the same in Haryana.

Based on the life of legendary athlete Milkha Singh, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was granted approval from chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to make it tax free. The film has already been garnering rave reviews from critics, and audiences too have given it a thumbs up.

Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra maintains that there was only one reason he wanted his film to be free of taxes.

“There was a sole reason behind getting the film tax free – I want this film to reach every nook and corner of the country. This film is a family watch and is made to inspire the youth,” Mehra said in a statement.

Elaborating further, Mehra added that he wanted each and everyone to be able to watch the important film. “I do not want people to wait for it come onto cable television and then be able to view it, but instead fit into the monthly budget of every household so that they can get the complete experience of the legend’s life journey, hardships and achievements in the theatre.”
