Hit-And-Run-Case: Salman Khan’s Next Hearing On May 8

The Sessions Court judge U B Hejib has adjourned the case to May 8.

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Salman Khan was once again exempted from personal appearance in court in relation to the 2002 hit-and-run case, this week.

The Sessions Court judge U B Hejib has adjourned the case to May 8.

In the next session, the court will hear the actor’s appeal against the order of the magistrate invoking charge of ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’ (section 304 part II IPC) which Salman’s lawyer Ashok Mundargi says is ‘erroneous’ and ‘bad in law’.

Previously, Salman was tried under ‘causing death by negligence’ (Section 304 A of IPC), which provides for a maximum punishment of two years in jail. The new charge of section 304 part II IPC provides a maximum punishment of up to 10 years in jail.

Salman’s lawyer has been asked to file a written submission on the appeal on May 8 by the Sessions Court.
