Hit And Run Case: Court Rejects Salman Khan’s Application

Salman-Khan-Hiral-[tps_footer]Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s application to summon singer Kamaal Khan as a witness in the 2002 hit-and-run case was rejected by the Bombay High Court on Monday November 30. The prosecution made an appeal that Salman’s request has no merit and must be dismissed. The request was opposed by the prosecution in a written reply to the court.

Salman Khan’s application regarding the witness Kamaal Khan says that Kamaal Khan was “the best eye witness” available to the prosecution who could bring the truth that who was driving the car and how did the accident happened.

Justice A R Joshi at the hearing said, “It is the considered view of the court that there is nothing in this application for summoning Kamaal Khan and recording his evidence” while saying that Kamaal was in the car when Salman left his apartment till the time of the accident.

According to the police reports, singer Kamaal Khan was reportedly in the car when the accident happened in 2002. The court will continue with the arguments of the prosecution in the appeal filed by Salman from Tuesday.

The court is currently hearing Salman’s appeal against the five-year sentence. Salman Khan’s car had met with accident in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four. 13 years after the trial began, Salman Khan’s 2002 hit and run case came to end on May 6 where session court found him guilty and sentenced him for five years jail, convicted under all charges. Two days later, sentence was suspended on May 8th and bail was granted in cash of Rs 30,000 in lieu of surety as a temporary measure.[/tps_footer]
