Freida Pinto and director Anurag Kashyap attend the IFFLA Opening Night Gala

LOS ANGELES: The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles launched its 11th season, Tuesday, with the West coast premiere of Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’.

The gala screening of the film delighted opening night crowds at the ArcLight. The red carpet marked the return of IFFLA’s homegrown talent Anurag Kashyap, as he brought the first part of his epic two-part revenge saga to Los Angeles.

Gathering accolades from Cannes, Sundance and many more, GOW chronicles three generations of deep vengeance between feuding families. Set in Wasseypur, during the tumultuous times of India’s Independence and industrialization, Kashyap’s epic tale in two parts is a powerful and gritty portrayal of family, honor, and vengeance.

Following the red carpet screening, a Q&A was held with Anurag Kashyap. The star studded opening was attended by this year’s IFFLA’s filmmakers and many high profile names in industry including the stunning Freida Pinto.
