Guru 80-100% collection in Bombay Circuit

MUMBAI:Mani Ratnam’s Guru released this Friday. The film with the same title was released two decades earlier by Ratnam’s brother, which had Mithun Chakraborty playing the lead as a cop. In this version, Mithun plays a media magnate. Abhishek Bachchan portrays Dhirubhai Ambani while Aishwarya Rai plays his wife. The opening has been below expectations. The film is expected to do better in Mumbai, the south and overseas.

In the Bombay circuit, Ramesh Sippy’s Raksha Distributors released Guru with 125 prints with 57 UFOs, 27 DLPs and 26 E-City Digital prints. In Bombay, the opening collections were around 80 to 100 per cent. Eros (Churchgate, Mumbai) which seats 1,024 persons collected Rs 1,31,428 against the capacity Rs 1,46, 567.40 (three shows) (89.67 per cent) (The second and third show registered full houses). The 1,107 seating of Maratha Mandir (Grant Road, Mumbai) on the opening day collected Rs 82,376 against the capacity of Rs 1,01,757.30 (three shows) (80.95 Per cent). (The night show however, registered full houses). Chitra cinema (Dadar, Mumbai) which seats 635 seats registered 100 per cent collections in its first four shows; viz Rs 86 ,426.95. In Kamran (Kurla, Mumbai) which seats 550 seats and has a capacity of Rs 43, 975.40 (four shows), collected Rs 37,128 (84.43 per cent). Anupam (Goregaon, Mumbai) which seats 927 persons collected Rs 30,433 (four shows) against the capacity of Rs 74,874.00 (40.65 per cent).

Anwar was a non-starter at the box-office. The film was released in Bombay circuit by Rajesh Thadani on producers’ account, with six prints in Bombay and two in Gujarat. Regal (Colaba, Mumbai) the main cinema, opened with daily one show (at 3 pm). The single screen cinema which seats 1,178 persons with a capacity of Rs 65, 812.55 per show collected around Rs 6,000 (9.12 per cent). New Vijay (Chembur, Mumbai) which has 467 seats and a capacity of Rs 23,390.80 in its four shows collected Rs 2,350 (10.02 per cent).

Prof Matchindra Chate’s Friendship, the remake of his hit Marathi film Bindhast, opened to a lukewarm response. The all woman cast comprising Tabu, Jyotika, Sharbani Mukerji, Ishita Arun, Mita Vashisht, Shweta Menon and directed by Priyadarshan, could not attract the audiences to the theatres.

The film was released by the producer himself through Ram Gopal Varma’s Bombay’s distribution office in Bombay Circuits, C.P. Berar and Nizam with 82 prints and 24 UFOs. The film opened at Plaza (Dadar, Mumbai) with daily two shows (matinees and 3 pm show). The cinema, which has a seating capacity of 825 persons and a two show capacity of Rs 58, 107.90 managed to gross Rs 15,334 (two shows) (26.38 per cent). Ashish (Chembur, Mumbai) has a seating capacity of 1000. Against the capacity of Rs 97,268 (four shows), the film managed to collect Rs 10,256 (10.54 per cent).

Three Bhojpuri films Didi Tora Devar Deewana, Mai Baap and Suraj Bihari were also released.

Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana’s first week was a washout all over. Ran for a week in Bombay. Ahmedabad collected Rs 2,34,000 from nine cinemas (28 per cent). Delhi collected Rs 95,559 from three cinema (seven per cent). Ran for a week at Hyderabad.

Game – first week Bombay Rs 7,18,372 from seven cinemas (42 per cent). Ahmedabad Rs 71,900 from two cinemas (29 per cent). Ran for a week in Chennai.

I See You – second week Delhi Rs 2,55,200 from seven cinemas (13 per cent).

Bhagam Bhag – third week Bombay Rs 74,62,309 from 14 cinemas (62 per cent), Thane Rs 22,29,128 from 19 cinemas (57 per cent), Ahmedabad Rs 23,85,150 from 14 cinemas (55 per cent), Delhi Rs 47,00,000 from 25 cinemas (50 per cent), Bareilly Rs 62,512 from one cinema (39 per cent), Ujjain Rs 58,610 from one cinema (32 per cent), Jaipur Rs 5,61,050 from three cinemas (39 per cent), Kolkata Rs 14,44,800 from six cinemas (58 per cent), Hyderabad Rs 17,67,550 from five cinemas (48 per cent), Chennai Rs 2,37,365 from two cinemas (59 per cent).

Kabul Express – fourth week Bombay Rs 25,21,501 from 26 cinemas (45 per cent), Thane Rs 6,73,005 from 11 cinemas (35 per cent), Ahmedabad Rs 5,00,000 from 10 cinemas (37 per cent), Delhi Rs 4,60,000 from five cinemas (35 per cent), Kolkata Rs 7,05,315 (six days) from eight cinemas (40 per cent).

Baabul entered the sixth week in Bombay at two cinemas, and the fifth week in Jamnagar Rs 39,806 from one cinema (12 shows), Delhi Rs 9,60,967 from five cinemas. Bareilly Rs 32,404 from one cinema.

Dhoom:2 – 27th week Bombay Rs 23,84,654 from 25 cinemas (53 per cent), Thane Rs 5,40,634 from eight cinemas (55 per cent), Ahmedabad Rs 3,78,914 from eight cinemas (48 per cent), Jamnagar Rs 38,393 from one cinema (35 per cent), Delhi Rs 26,00,000 from 12 cinemas (39 per cent), Bareilly Rs 31,894 from one cinema (33 per cent), Ujjain Rs 29,000 from one cinema. Jaipur Rs 2,33,400 from three cinemas (39 per cent), Kolkata Rs 9,16,425 (six days) from nine cinemas (38 per cent), Hyderabad Rs 19,74,334 from nine cinemas (56 per cent). Entered eighth week in Chennai.

Vivah entered ninth week in Bombay Rs 10,58,683 from 11 cinemas, Thane Rs 3,47,396 from five cinemas, Ahmedabad Rs 9,33,617 from 10 cinemas, Delhi Rs 82,665 from two cinemas, Barielly Rs 43,382 from one cinema, Kolkata Rs 1,92,128 from four cinemas.

Don entered 13th combined week in Bombay at one cinema (in matinees).

Dor entered 16th week in Delhi Rs 17,542 from one cinema (seven shows).

Lage Raho Munnabhai entered the 20th week in Bombay (Tax Free) at three cinemas, 19th week in Ahmedabad Rs 6,330 from one cinemas (seven shows).

Krrish entered 29th week in Bombay Rs 3,828 from one cinema (seven shows) against the capacity of Rs 42,946.05 (nine per cent).

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge entred 586th week in Bombay Rs 28,270 from one cinema (seven shows).
