HTPL manages good opening overseas

MUMBAI: Reema Kagti’s debut directorial venture, Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd has managed a good opening weekend, particularly in the UK and UAE, according to Studio 18, the motion picture division of Television Eighteen, which distributed the film overseas.

The film released in the UAE on 22 February 2007, and the four-day gross collections on eight prints were AED 287,082 ($ 78,183), says a company release.

Released in the UK on 23 February 2007, the three-day gross collections on 14 screens were £45,945 ($ 90,287), with a screen average of £3,282, making it the highest opening in the UK for a film in this bracket released on a similar number of prints, adds the release.

“This was the first mid-range film done by Excel Entertainment. Studio 18 took a chance and did a splendid job of giving the film a credible theatrical release and left no stone unturned in marketing and promoting it to the target audience. The strong figures it has delivered overseas will give an impetus to films with alternative genres and concepts,” say producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.
