Comparisons are inevitable when two promising newcomers debut in the same year. Its happening again – Janhvi Kapoor had a successful debut with a big hit Dhadak and now when Sara Ali Khan’s film is releasing, the social media has been comparing the two on all fronts.

Is it a coincidence that both Sridevi and Amrita Singh had their debut in Hindi Films in the year 1983. Sridevi had her first Hindi Release “ Himmatwala” and Amrita Singh had “Betaab”. Both the films were super hits.  Their personalities were totally different. While Sridevi was reserved and quiet, Amrita was outspoken and never had a problem speaking out.

Both had a successful career ahead.
In 1989, Amrita Singh in an interview to a film magazine acknowledged “ Except for Sridevi all the other heroines including myself can be slotted together. I’m afraid it is reality and its time we face reality. I’m sorry but I’m speaking the truth. Today most producers are proposal makers and most heroines are interchangeable. Sridevi is the only heroine who makes a difference in the selling price of a film.. Sridevi is there for keeps. Take it or leave it. She is like Rajiv Gandhi and the rest of us heroines are like the cabinet ministers.”

Like mother, Like daughter. Sara Ali Khan today says that she is only inspired by Sridevi. In an interview, she said “I have grown up watching a lot of her films. I am a die hard Sridevi fan but it is even blasphemous to say that I aspire to become like her because it is impossible. It is impossible to touch the vicinity she belonged. She is definitely someone that one can inspire from. When i was shooting a romantic song for Simmba, i was stalking her online. When I required high energy, I used to see Hawa Hawai. I feel that if i could do even one percent of what she did, then i will be happy.”
