Jameel Khan to be seen in Badmaash Company after 3 years

MUMBAI: Actor Jameel Khan, of Loins of Punjab, has a sunny May coming up, its action packed and is sure to get the attention of film makers across India. With a hiatus of three years behind him, Jameel is eager to grab his place under the sun.

Jameel said, “After Loins of Punjab, I was offered a lot of peripheral roles. The films were not exciting and certainly the roles were not worth working upon. So I bided my time until I was offered Badmaash Company from the Yash Raj banner. I met Parmeet Sethi and things fell into place. In the meantime I did a small role in Rock On too.”

Jameel has a lot on his plate, but 7 May will see two of his releases. He explained, “For the Hindi release of Gurinder Chadha’s It’s a Wonderful Afterlife, I have dubbed for Sanjay Bhaskar. And strangely, both Badmaash Company and Hai Marjawah are releasing on the same day.”

This theatre actor, who is not formally trained, has been active on the Mumbai theatre front. First it was a lot of work with Naseeruddin Shah and then pivotal roles in plays like Monto Ismat Hazir Hai and Katha Collage. He is also planning to produce a play with Vidhu Puri, his director from Chenab Gandhi. Jameel said, “While Vidhu will direct it, I will act and produce it.”

Post the releases of his two films, Jameel will be keen for some progress on the Chenab Gandhi film, which was to be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But now news has it that the film is on the lookout for a new production house, while Vidhu Puri, the original director for the film, will continue to be at the helm of affairs.

Jameel is keeping his fingers crossed, hoping for Badmaash Company to give him the much-needed space in tinsel town.
