K Sera Sera pins hope on Salman’s Partner

MUMBAI: K Sera Sera, which has produced the Salman Khan – Govinda starrer Partner in association with Sohail Khan Productions, is bullish on the film. Partner is scheduled for a worldwide release tomorrow (20 July).

Close to 450 prints of the movie will be released in India with an additional 170 prints in the overseas market. According to sources close to the development, K Sera Sera has sold the India and overseas distribution rights of the film to Eros International for an MG (minimum gurantee) of Rs 300 million (Rs 30 crores).

“While Eros International has retained the distribution rights of the film for the Delhi and Mumbai cities along with the overseas territories, it has sold the other Indian territories’ rights to Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision,” informs the source.

According to information available with Businessofcinema.com, Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision has retained the distribution rights of Partner for parts of the Gujarat territory and sold the remaining territories to Ramesh and Rakesh Sippy’s company Raksha Distributors.

While refusing to comment on the terms of the distribution deal with Eros International, K Sera Sera CEO Rajesh Pavithran however said that the company was bullish on the film, which boasts of the Salman Khan-Govinda-David Dhawan combination. “We have very high expectations from Partner. The initial reports coming in are positive and the inquiries that we have been getting for the movie since the last three – four weeks from various territories make us bullish,” he said.

When queried as to whether provision has been made to increase the number of prints for the movie after its opening, Pavithran said, “We will wait till Saturday and if we feel that the content has been accepted by the audiences, then we will definitely increase the number of prints of the movie.”

Pavithran also said that going by the response, the movie should take a good opening. “We are refraining to put an amount to the opening figures but if early indications are anything to go by, Partner should garner as good an opening as Dhoom:2 and Guru,” he says.

Apart from Salman Khan and Govinda, the film also stars Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta. The music of the film, which has been composed by Sajid-Wajid has been doing well on the charts.
