Kanwar’s Rs 60 mn Raqeeb 50% complete

MUMBAI: Filmmaker Raj Kanwar’s Raqeeb – Rivals In Love, which is 50 per cent complete is being made on a budget of Rs 60+ million (Rs 6+ crores). The music and India video rights of the film have been acquired by T-Series.

Kanwar says, “We have a long association with T-Series and are confident about the company and its marketing skills. We have got a good price from them.” Pritam has provided the musical score for the movie.

Kanwar has handed over the directorial reigns of Raqeeb – Rivals In Love to his chief assistant Anurag Singh. Like his trademark films, this one too will be a social, musical crime thriller and has all the ingredients of a family entertainer. Plans are to release the movie early next year. The film stars Rahul Khanna, Jimmy Shergill, Sharman Joshi, Tanushree Dutta and Vivek Shaque.

“Today filmmaking is a costly proposition. Like my other films, Raqeeb… is budgeted at Rs 60 million plus. A major portion of the film is shot abroad. From 15 September, we will be shooting in Karabi (in between Thailand and Hong Kong). In October we will shoot the climax of the film in Bangkok in a 10-day schedule to wrap up the film,” he says.

While Raqeeb… reaches near completion, Kanwar has already begun the pre-production work on his next film, which will be directed by him. Kanwar informs that the film will be backed by Adlabs.

However when contacted by Businessofcinema.com for confirmation on this development, Adlabs CEO Pravin Nischol, who is currently in Australia, says, “I am not aware of the development since I am out of the country. I will be back by this weekend and only then will I be able to provide information on the same.”
