Karan Johar Listens To Shahid Kapoor; Changes ‘Ungli’ Release Date

Setting aside old differences, Shahid Kapoor met with Karan Johar to discuss the release date of Dharma Productions' 'Ungli'.

MUMBAI: In Bollywood, three things are temporary: fame, friendships and enmities. In the case of Karan Johar and Shahid Kapoor, looks like they’ve finally let bygones be bygones.

Shahid Kapoor has, reportedly, always had a flailing relationship with Dharma Productions since the time he said no to acting in ‘Kaal’. But the actor put all that behind him to go and talk to Karan Johar to change the release date of ‘Ungli’.

‘Ungli’, directed by Rensil D’silva, is being produced by Karan Johar. Initially, it was to release on 6 September, but recently the ‘Student Of The Year’ director changed the date to 20 September where it was clashing with the Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

Shahid Kapoor met Karan Johar at the Dharma office and requested him to look at the commercial viability of both the films and how it could affect each other’s business. Karan Johar then agreed to change the release date of Ungli.

Karan Johar has said, “There have been too many stories in the past about Shahid and I having friction. Today, I want to go on record to say that we have no problems with each other. Yes, I have moved ‘Ungli’. I will announce the new date very soon. Shahid met me in this regard and I agreed. My dad used to say, ‘If you are a member of the industry and not for your fraternity, then you have no right to be here’.”

Wise words there by the late Yash Johar, and words to live by. Looks like it’s a happy ending for everyone involved now.
