Kindap’s nets Rs 152 million in India in 4 days; Drona lags

MUMBAI: Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan and Minissha Lamba starrer Kidnap, which released on Thursday 2 October has pocketed Rs 152.5 million (Rs 15.25 crores) during the four day long weekend.

While the collections of Drona have not been made available to media, sources from the industry inform that Drona’s worldwide collections is half of Kidnap’s worldwide collection. In India, Drona is said to have netted in the range of Rs 80 million (Rs 8 crores).

As reported earlier by Businessofcinema.com, on the opening day Kidnap had a net collection of Rs 50 million (Rs 5 crores) all over India. On the consecutive days the film netted Rs 31.5 million (Rs 3.15 crores), Rs 33.5 million (Rs 3.35 crores) and Rs 37.5 million (Rs 3.75 crores).

Kidnap’s collection saw on a drop on Friday compared to its Thursday’s all India business. The collection picked up marginally on Sunday, but the film managed to do the best business only on the opening day.

The response for Kidnap in Pakistan is said to better than Singh Is Kinng. A big reason for this may be credited to the Eid holidays in Pakistan. On the other hand, Drona did not release in Pakistan.

In the UK, Kidnap’s box office collection is £243,309 from 51 screens, whereas that of Drona is £117,854 from 56 screens.
