Lafangey Parindey fetches profit for YRF with box office & satellite rights

MUMBAI: The Neil Nitin Mukesh – Deepika Padukone starrer Lafangey Parindey has fetched a profit for its producers Yash Raj Films.

Made on a cost of approximately Rs 180 million (Rs 18 crore) including print and advertising (P&A), Lafangey Parindey has made a profit with approximately Rs 150 million (Rs 15 crore) net collections at the box office in five days and an additional Rs 100 – 120 million (Rs 10 – 12 crore) in satellite rights sale. The value of the music and home video rights can be pegged at approximately Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crore).

As was reported by Businessofcinema.com, the movie’s opening weekend net collections were approximately Rs 105 million (Rs 10.50 crore) in India. On Monday the movie saw net collections of approximately Rs 16.50 million (Rs 1.65 crore), while Tuesday the collections stood a notch higher at Rs 27.50 million (Rs 2.75 crore). Tuesday saw an increase in collections due to the Raksha Bandhan holiday. The five day total of the movie now stands at approximately Rs 150 million (Rs 15 crore).

The movie has fetched a good price of approximately Rs 100 – Rs 120 million (Rs 10 – 12 crore) in satellite rights, which have been sold to Colors. This is the first time ever that the satellite rights of a Yash Raj film have been acquired by a channel other than Sony.
