Mumbai: 3D animated TV series Cosmic Quantum Ray, co-produced by Indian studio Maya Entertainment Ltd., has won the 2009 Pulcinella Award for “Best TV Series”. The award was announced on 4 April at the “Cartoons on the Bay Festival” in Italy.
Cosmic Quantum Ray (CQR) is a 26 episode series about a team of galaxy-hopping troubleshooters. It was conceived by a leading laser physicist of Indian origin Dr. Mani Bhaumik. CQR is a co-production of Maya alongside Mike Young Productions USA (MYP), Kika-Germany and others, with animation by Maya. The show is expected to go on air in various countries this summer. It has already won the Hugo Silver Plaque Award for Science Fiction.
MYP co-founder Mike Young , thanked Maya while accepting the award and added, “We are very proud of winning the prestigious Pulcinella Award for CQR. Working with Maya made a huge difference to the quality and timely delivery of the show and we are happy to have partnered with them on it. This is some of the best animation to have come out of India in my long association with the industry and CQR is a world-class series.”

Maya’s previous co-production, The Tale of Jack Frost was nominated for Pulcinella and BAFTA awards. The studio is currently wrapping its home production Ramayana The Epic and is executing a Rs. 40 crore order book.
