Morpheus Media Ventures acquires Dulha Mil Gaya

MUMBAI: Morpheus Media Ventures has entered into an agreement to acquire the negative rights of the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan, Fardeen Khan and Sushmita Sen starrer Dulha Mil Gaya.

While Morpheus has come into the movie as a 50 per cent equity partner, it will be the sole presenter of the movie. Directed by Muddassar Aziz, Dulha Mil Gaya (DMG) is a lighthearted romantic family film set against the backdrop of Punjab and the Caribbean. The film is produced by Viveck Vaswani and Insight Productions.

Morpheus Media Ventures’ Rajat Jhunjhunwala said, "We believe in the movie and Viveck Vaswani. While much has been said about the film, the team at Morpheus used its own judgment to evaluate the potential of movie and went ahead with the deal. We will not only provide financial capital but also our network of distribution partners and marketing that will do justice to a film of this stature."

Morpheus Media Ventures, a family owned business, till recently, was a boutique media company focusing on producing regional films. Recently, Rajat Jhunjhunwala, a finance professional with investment and restructuring background and with passion for media, has taken control of the affairs of this family business. Subsequently, the company’s operations and business model were restructured and the company raised a small round of private equity. MMV has now drafted aggressive plans to foray into the media and entertainment space in India. While production and acquisition of Hindi as well as regional content will be a part of the strategy, Morpheus is also building a team of partners for the movie distribution business.

Morpheus Media Ventures currently has two Hindi and one Marathi film under production.
