Music show Jalsa enters season 2 in new avatar

MUMBAI: IDEA will launch the second season of IDEA Jalsa on national television network, DD National.

In its second series, the Indian music extravaganza will have new performances from music legends and maestros of India, as well as an enchanting performance by child artists, in the Independence Day Special show. Music lovers will also be able to participate in a Talent Hunt in the second season of IDEA Jalsa.

IDEA Cellular in association with the Indian Music Academy (IMA) flagged off the second season on air on 2 August, 2009. The show will continue to telecast on DD National over 26 episodes, every Sunday at 10:30 am.

IDEA Cellular chief marketing officer Pradeep Shrivastava said, "IDEA has built a strong connect with Indian youth, using music as a thread that binds the nation. Through our long, successful association with IMA, we have now made IDEA Jalsa Series 2 more appealing for the young music lovers, and offer them a chance to showcase their talent in front of the legends of Indian Classical Music, besides millions of TV viewers."

The IDEA Jalsa Talent Hunt will be conducted in six Indian cities – Pune, Kolkata, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai and Mumbai. Every participant will be allotted five minutes to either sing or play an instrument, in any of the genres of music – be it Hindustani, Carnatic, Qawwali, Sufi, Ghazal, Bhajan, or Folk. One Maestro along with Durga Jasraj, the co-founder & spokesperson of the IMA will judge the participants in each city.

Selected candidates will get an opportunity to perform at the Mega Final in Mumbai, in a contest judged by the IMA Patrons and legends of Indian music. Overall 6 finalists will get the platform of IDEA Jalsa to showcase their talent on Television. Additionally, finalists will be provided with One Year scholarship in any form of Indian music, to learn music.
