MUMBAI: Move over Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan, Bollywood has a new superhero coming to town! This season’s latest heartthrob superstar Ranbir Kapoor recently admitted that he is gearing up for Ayan Mukerjee’s superhero film!
The Kapoor lad, flying higher than ever post the success of Dharma Productions’ ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, which released in May, says that his best friend Ayan Mukerjee is writing a script for him. Ayan has directed him in ‘Wake Up Sid’ (which was Ayan’s debut as a director) and then ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’
The Mukherjee- Kapoor collaboration is to be a superhero flick, and incidentally, this will be the first time in his six and a half year career, that Ranbir will play a superhero.
When asked recently about his future films, Ranbir confirmed: “I am doing a film with Deepika (Padukone) to be directed by Imtiaz Ali and then a superhero film which will be a trilogy that Ayan (Mukerji) is writing.”
Earlier too, speculation was rife that Ranbir was keen on doing Ayan’s next film. A source had said, “Ranbir trusts Ayan’s abilities. He has enjoyed working with the filmmaker so far, and is looking forward to their next outing together. This film will be mounted on a much bigger scale than their earlier projects.”
With confirmation straight from the horse’s mouth, it surely will be interesting to see Ranbir essay the role of a superhero. This, after his turn as boxer/ street fighter in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’. Fans must surely be eagerly looking forward to the new and action-star look of Ranbir!
