NFDC seeks feature films for co-production

MUMBAI: The National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC) has invited filmmakers to submit feature film projects for co-production with NFDC.

Filmmakers are required to submit screenplays in English (duly registered with the Film Writers’ Association of India and copyrighted) for consideration along with a Letter of Commitment for an assured minimum fiscal investment of 30% of the total cost of the film project.

Proposals complete in all respects will be evaluated by a committee of eminent personalities set up by NFDC. The committee will comprise members drawn from the entertainment sector. A maximum of five scripts will be selected by the committee.

For the projects that are selected by the committee, NFDC will undertake to back the films with an investment of an additional 30% of the total budget of the film or Rs.10 Million, whichever is less. This investment by NFDC will be subject to the filmmaker being able to raise the balance investment within one year from the date of selection of the project by NFDC.

Once the 100% equity for the project is in place, NFDC’s stake therein cannot be substituted under any circumstances without NFDC’s specific written consent, even if the filmmaker is able to identify 100% financing subsequent to this process. NFDC will retain first right of refusal to the extent of its equity in such or any other event.

Upon finalization of 100% investment in the project, co-production agreements will be drawn up between the stakeholders on mutually agreed terms and conditions.

Any interpretation and/or question arising out of the above will be decided by the Chairman of NFDC whose decision shall be final and binding on the parties.

Only Synopsis and Treatment (In English), along with the form duly filled in and with all requisite enclosures, may be submitted latest by 15 February, 2008.
