MUMBAI: With the iPhone slated to hit Indian shores officially tomorrow (22 August), competitor Nokia unveiled its new phone model N96 in India. Nokia N96 will be available in the Indian market from the first week of September. What’s more, the Nokia N96 comes preloaded with the latest Shah Rukh Khan flick Om Shanti Om.
Khan is the brand ambassador of Nokia. He also endorses Airtel, which incidentally is bringing the iPhone to India. Along with Airtel, Vodafone will also support the iPhone device.
The Nokia N96 is a dual-slider, which provides optimum web access and entertainment. It offers 16 GB memory that can be extended up to 24 GB. The phone can stores up to 18000 songs, 20000 images, 60 hours of video or 20 full length movies.
It features a 2.8 inches screen, multifunctional media keys, music, games and movies at the touch of a button. The Nokia N96 also comes with a kickstand that allows hands-free viewing.
The N96 offers Wave Secure feature exclusively for India, which is a security application that tracks the handset when stolen or lost. It also creates a backup for phone data through the internet.
The N96 is also pre-loaded with Hindi songs, 3 N-Gage games and free navigation licence of eight cities across India.

Nokia N96 smartphone also sports a five megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss optics, DVD-like quality video capture at 30 frames per second, built-in 3D stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm headphone connector, a dual LED flash and video light. It also has the Navigation and Nokia Maps 2.0 application.
