After a lot of speculations and denials Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji have finally tied the knot yesterday, April 21, 2014 in Italy.
Yes you heard it right. Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji got married on Monday night in Italy and in attendance were only close friends and family.
A confirmation came this morning from Yash Raj Films which said, “We are happy to announce that Mr. Aditya Chopra and Ms. Rani Mukerji got married last night on April 21, 2014 in Italy. The wedding was a very small intimate affair with very close family and friends. We wish the couple a very happy married life.”
Rani Mukerji too sent out a statement saying,” I would like to share the happiest day of my life with all the fans all over the world whose love and blessings have been part of my journey all these years. I know that all my well wishers who have waited for this day will be really happy for me. It was a beautiful wedding in the Italian countryside with just a few of our close family and friends with us. The one person I missed terribly was Yash Uncle but I know he was there with us in spirit and his love and blessings will always be with Adi and me. I have always believed in fairy-tales and with god’s grace my life has been exactly like one and now as I enter the most important chapter of my life- the fair tale continues.”
The moment this news broke a lot of their friends took on to twitter to wish the newly wedded couple. Kunal Kohli, was not in the know of the wedding plans and wote: “I wish them both lots of love and my best wishes are with them.”
Music director and singer Shekhar Ravjiani, too congratulated the couple and said, “Really happy to hear the news. Wish them both a lifetime of happiness.”
Raj Kumar Gupta who directed Rani Mukerji in No One Killed Jessica said, “I wish her a very happy married life.”
Shah Rukh Khan too took on to twitter and stated, “May Allah bless my friends Rani and Adi. May you enjoy the small things my friends for in the end they are the big things. Happy union. Love You.”
Younger brother Uday Chopra wrote, “We welcome Rani Chopra to the family. Lots of love to the newly weds.”
And last but not the least, friend and confidant Karan Johar too congratulated the couple and wrote, “And finally….Mr. and Mrs. Chopra….Love You Both.”
It is the first marriage for Rani Mukherji while Aditya Chopra, who is known to be a very private person, was previously married to Payal Khanna but they got divorced in 2009.
Currently Rani Mukerji is working on two films; Kill Dil directed by Shaad Ali and Mardaani directed by Pradeep Sarkar, both being produced by Yash Raj Films.
