MUMBAI: Vidya Balan is known to play diverse characters. And that’s one reason the actress has been lauded for her performances in several films.
Be it her role as a seductress in ‘The Dirty Picture’ or the loud, overtly fashion obsessed housewife Pammi in ‘Ghanchakkar’.
Keeping the idea of playing different characters, Pammi a.k.a Vidya Balan is all set to play Bobby a female detective in her next film.
‘Bobby Jasoos’ is being produced by Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha under the banner Born Free Entertainment. Dia Mirza had also produced ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ which starred herself and Zayed Khan.
Says Vidya Balan, “I have known Dia and Sahil for years now. They are the kind of producers everyone wants to work with. But Sanyukta Chawla’s script and director Samar Sheikh kept me hooked and I am looking forward to work with them.”
Dia Mirza adds, “Vidya was an obvious choice. She is a powerhouse performer who has not been in such a space. Her character is inquisitive, curious, intelligent and out-of-the-box thinker and it syncs with Vidya’s personality.”
Incidentally Ranbir Kapoor also is playing a detective with similar traits in his and Anurag Basu’s co-production ‘Jagga Jasoos’.
With the two detectives having an eye to expose cases, it needs to be seen, which one of the two cracks the nut better at the box-office!
