People Pictures inks film deal with Raman

MUMBAI: People Pictures has signed on Prawaal Raman to write and direct two films; the first one being a fast paced action thriller inspired by the life of India’s most enigmatic criminal, while the second being a taut paranormal psychological thriller set in a medical college challenging the power of hallucination verses reality.

People Pictures CEO Aditya Shastri said, “We are delighted to be working with Prawaal, and in him, we see a film maker, who can bring the right sensibilities to audiences not just in India, but across the world with the quality and originality of the scripts that he has conceptualized. The movies that he is making with us fit in perfectly with the Creative Studio that we are establishing in India.”

The action thriller is a big budget, tent-pole film shot in four continents across the world featuring among others, India’s leading male stars. Production for the film is underway.

The psychological thriller is a multi-lingual film, which will be shot in India and goes on floors in the first quarter of 2008. The film will be made and shot in three languages Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, with lead stars of each industry featuring in them.

Raman added, “I am happy to be associated with People Pictures for these two films. After being approached by various production houses I decided to work with People Pictures because as a production house they share the same creative vision as I do and I look forward to having a long relationship with them, making the kind of movies that I’ve always wanted to make.”
