The video for her latest single ‘Exotic’ has landed Priyanka considerable flak, with critics pointing out that her ensembles bear striking resemblance to those earlier Pop legends like Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.
The blogosphere is abuzz with fashion critics pointing out the similarities in the ensemble worn by Priyanka and those donned by Britney and JLo.
In 2004, Britney’s nude coloured crystal-studded dress in the video ‘Toxic’ was the talk of the town, a look that Priyanka has recreated in ‘Exotic’. Interestingly, even the song titles seem to have a strong resemblance- ‘Toxic’ and ‘Exotic’!
Pop divas like Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry too have ridden the nude-gown trend- with JLo’s nude coloured bodysuit raising temperatures at a concert in 2011, and Katy Perry’s red carpet peep show in 2010.
‘Imitation is the best form of flattery’, and perhaps that is true in the case of Priyanka Chopra. Though she is looking sizzling hot in the video, we wish she had tried to be a little more individualistic and chosen a more contemporary look for her breakthrough International single.
