Mumbai: PVR Pictures will release The Last Lear, directed by Rituparno Ghosh and featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal on 12 September. The movie also boasts of a strong supporting cast of Divya Dutta, Shefali Shah, and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
This will also be PVR’s third association with Planman Motion Pictures, having previously distributed Mithya and Via Darjeeling. For the lead actors, this will be their first English flick.
The film revolves around upcoming actor Shabnam (Zinta) who, struggling to cope with her messy personal life, finds an unexpected mentor in Harish ‘Harry’ Mishra (Bachchan). He teaches her more than just the nuances of acting. From being a complete outsider to the world of commercial cinema, Harry soon becomes one of them.
Little does he know that as the film rolls and he gets into the skin of the character of the Joker that he is playing, he may be taking his role a bit too seriously. As the intense moments unfold, masks are taken off a few faces and it makes for compelling viewing.
With this acclaimed film, PVR is proud to associate itself with brilliant performers like Bachchan, Zinta and Ghosh. In the past PVR has also distributed other Indian English language films like Being Cyrus, Everybody Says I’m Fine, Loins of Punjab and many more.
