Radio Mirchi felicitates Shilpa Shetty

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi this year has chosen to felicitate Shilpa Shetty for breaking the ‘brown-white’ divide in the UK and for her efforts to creating AIDS awareness, at the Mirchi Achievers Forum 2007.

The Mirchi Achievers Forum is a platform created by Radio Mirchi to acknowledge prominent individuals from India‘s sporting and entertainment spaces. The first Mirchi Achiever – Shabana Azmi was felicitated at the Mirchi Achievers Forum last year for her exceptional work as parliamentarian and social activist. The forum also gives Mirchi listeners an opportunity to interact with achievers.

Shilpa Shetty, who has now become an icon and brand ambassador for India, overseas, has emerged as the people’s star as a result of her grace and the dignity she displayed under testing circumstances.

ENIL (Radio Mirchi) managing director and CEO A.P. Parigi said, “The Mirchi Achievers Forum is constantly looking at prominent personalities from sports, media and entertainment arenas to identify and acknowledge landmark achievements outside their main area of calling.”

Times Group managing director Vineet Jain said, “It has always been the endeavor of the Times Group and its diverse media to bring home to the common man the essentials of what shapes world society at large. Celebrities have always been role models who can shape a better society. Radio Mirchi has taken a large step in the direction with the Mirchi Achiever’s Forum and it has become an important trend already.”
