‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ may have sprinted fast to the finishing line and struck gold at the box office, but looks like director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is running faster. He is ready with his next film, a mythological thriller.

MUMBAI: It took four years post ‘Delhi 6’ for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra to come back with ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. But the wait was truly worth it. And now, as ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ continues the dream run at the box office, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is ready with his next film.

It is pretty quick considering that Mehra takes a long while to make his movies. But according to the ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ director, the script was ready even before the Farhan Akhtar film went on floors. A mythological thriller titled ‘Raja Aur Krishna Ki Bansuri’.

The film was earlier titled ‘Paanch Kaurav’ and traces the hunt for Lord Krishna’s flute. It will be Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s most ambitious and expensive film till date being made in both English and Hindi.

Rakeysh Mehra confirms, “The film will be set in the 1920’s when India was under the British Raj. It will be a action-romance-drama affair in that order.” Looks like even here Rakeysh Mehra doesn’t want to leave his patriotic side. (Read More)

There were also speculations that his next would be a period love story about Mirza Sahiban, Mehra’s foray into contemporary romance for the first time, but he said that Gulzar saab is still working on the script. “Only once Gulzar saab finishes the script, will I take it up,” said Mehra.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had during the making of ‘Rang De Basanti’ had said he is an atheist. So we wonder how did he get mersmerised by Krishna’s flute.

But it is surely going to be a long wait until we see Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra create the magic on celluloid again. Be it with his ‘Mirza Sahiban’ or ‘Raja Aur Krishna Ki Bansuri’, whichever comes first!
