Sahara buys Sanjay Dutt-starrer EMI for approx Rs 300 mn

MUMBAI: SaharaOne Motion Pictures has acquired the worldwide rights of EMI (Easy Monthly Installments) for approximately Rs 300 million (Rs 30 crores).

The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Malaika Arora and Urmila Matondkar. It is a co-production between Popcorn Entertainment and Balaji Motion Pictures.

Confirming the development to Businessofcinema.com, Sahara One Motion Pictures head distribution and syndication Sharath Pal says, "With the aim of strengthening our distribution platforms in India and worldwide, we have acquired the worldwide rights of EMI. It is also Sanjay’s first release after his sentence in the prison."

The cost amounts to Rs 370 million (Rs 37 crore) including print and publicity of the film. The movie is slated to release on 27 June.

Sahara One Motion Pictures will also be distributing Bhoothnath in Rajasthan and CP on 9 May and Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian in Rajasthan on 16 May.
