On winning this award Director Omung Kumar said, “Sarbjit is very close to me. As a director, it was extremely challenging as not much was known of Sarbjit Singh except for tit bits since he was in jail most of the time. Particularly the kind of hard work that Randeep Hooda has put in with this role was something that added to the film. I feel truly honoured.

Producer Bhushan Kumar said, “There’s nothing more a producer expects than the hard work that is put in being recognized. This is a great honour for Sarbjit- the film and Omung Kumar. He is one of the finest directors in the country we have today.”

Producer Sandeep Singh said, “It was a challenge to piece together the story of Sarbjit Singh and then to bring it on the silver screen. Only a director of the calibre of Omung Kumar could do it. It is a fantastic film, we are extremely proud of it and we thank IFFAA for the recognition and this honour.

IFFAA is being held in Sydney Australia on 12th -13th May has a impressive line up of awardees and celebrity guest list in their maiden year of launch.
