Shah Rukh Khan Sweeps Morocco Off Its Feet

During the ongoing Marrakesh film festival, Shah Rukh Khan treated his fans to almost half-an-hour of songs and dancing at the Jamaa el Fna square and market place.

MUMBAI: If there is a charmer in Bollywood, who can make women, children and the elderly swoon alike, it is ‘King Khan’, the ‘Baadshah of Bollywood’ – Shah Rukh Khan. Age and gender notwithstanding,  the superstar has fans all over the globe.

And the people of Morocco were no exception! During the ongoing Marrakesh film festival, Shah Rukh Khan treated his fans to almost half-an-hour of songs and dancing at the Jamaa el Fna square and market place.

To introduce SRK on stage, an organiser said “I am pleased to present the star, the icon, the demigod of Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan.”

The audience broke into a frenzy, cheering aloud, welcoming Shah Rukh Khan with immense adulation.

A giant screen was installed at the venue, to screen a preview of the actor’s latest Hindi movie, ‘Jab Tak Hain Jaan’, the last directorial venture of legendary Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra.

This is the 12th edition of the  Marrakesh film festival, and this time, the organizers are presenting a special tribute to Indian cinema as it celebrates its centenary. Shah Rukh Khan, who has acted in almost 80 films, was issued a special invitation to be part of the festival, and the true showman that he is, he kept the crowds entertained with his charisma and style.

“This is the first time I am seeing Shah Rukh Khan. This is a dream. He was two feet away from me. He is so simple and modest,” Khadija Ariba, a young student declared. People braved cold weather, left their offices early, and stood in a jam-packed crowd only to get a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan.

The festival is on till 8 December and will showcase several movies from Bollywood, apart from honouring the best in global cinema.
