MUMBAI: Yesterday was Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s 47th birthday. For some, it may have been just another day; but for the huge number of lovers of the superstar, it was nothing less than the day when the heavens come together.

For that’s exactly what SRK is – a phenomenon… for more than two decades now.

Not just national, but his charisma traverses across the imaginary lines of divisions drawn up globally. His magnetism draws his fans across the seven seas. They watch him, they pray for him, they worship him.

That’s the power of Shah Rukh Khan.

A while ago, when SRK turned poetic, translating Aditya Chopra’s verses for ‘Jab Tak Hain Jaan’ into English, the whole world turned poetic with him. From Russian to Chinese, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ was recited in numerous languages within a few hours.

Yesterday, the day marking his birth 47 years ago, ‘Shahrukhism’ – the phenomenon that we are talking about, was indubitably visible. Social networking sites and websites were bombarded with admiration from fans in all forms possible.

With songs being sung in his love, with dances being performed in his admiration, and reams of words being poured out from the depths of a fan’s heart in adulation – the world rejoiced Shah Rukh’s birthday.

We’re sure you believe us, but for the skeptical few, here are some instances:

Dysa Calin, a fan from Romania, may have laughed at all things Bollywood… till she saw a SRK movie – My Name Is Khan. Listening to Shah Rukh, watching him and Dysa was a convert.

Here are a few excerpts from her letter:

“…From the first seconds I saw your work, I had already been transformed into a better person. You had thought me a lesson I couldn’t get in school & like all good Godsend experiences, it demolished any sort of barriers or defenses I had built around my heart & my sensitivity & what I truly felt was what I think the first breath of life feels! I felt peace & happiness, silence & drive, power deriving from my heart…I felt solace for the first time in my life.

“…From that moment on, I have been routing for you ceaselessly…I believe that talent is a gift from God, & whenever it is showcased I believe God smiles & I can hear his voice soothing the odds of this world. Undoubtedly Sir, this is what I believe you are, God’s own man. Bless the beautiful souls of your parents, whom have raised you to be such an exquisite person & thank God for parting with such a beautiful piece of his holiness, to put it into one of us, for all of us to see, enjoy, appreciate & revere!

“Sir Shah Rukh Khan, I’m sending you all my love, all my admiration, I pray always that your beauty touches as many as possible.”

Dysa Calin chose words to pour her heart out.

A group of lovers from Azerbaijan decided they would dance out their adoration!

Here’s the video:

For Shah Rukh, it was always a dream to be a superstar. From his TV debut in ‘Fauji’ to becoming a worldwide phenomenon, as a man SRK has come a long way forward.

But then, like he says in one of his movies, “kehte hai agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho, toh poori kaynath tumhein usse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai,”  – the Universe itself has granted him his true superstar status!
