Mumbai: Shemaroo Entertainment intends to carve a niche for Indian Cinema internationally with Cannes 2008. With a catalogue size of more than 400 titles including classics, romance, comedy and blockbusters among others, Shemaroo is looking to expand its overseas business at the festival.
Shemaroo’s animation film Ghatothkach – Master of Magic will be the highlight. "We have already got a good response for Ghatothkach from the East and the West and we also plan to close deals on Ghatothkach after the screening. Apart from this we are also looking at buying international movies for Indian Territory", said Shemaroo Entertainment director Hiren Gada.
Shemaroo will be putting up a booth and will be screening the following movies at Cannes this year:
Ghatothkach – Master of Magic: To be screened on 17 May ’08 at 12:00 noon
Anuranan: To be screened on 15 May ’08 at 15:30 hrs.
Mumbai Salsa: To be screened on 19 May ’08 at 09:30 hrs.
The festival has selected to screen Guide in its classic section this year. Shemaroo has the overseas rights of Guide and has been promoting the film internationally.
In addition, Shemaroo is also evaluating various co-production opportunities and proposals.
