MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television (SET) has acquired the world satellite rights of five movies from Yash Raj Films. The line up includes – Chak De! India, Tara Rum Pum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and the upcoming, Madhuri Dixit’s comeback film, Aaja Nachle.
SET India CEO Kunal Dasgupta said, “Yash Raj Films has been on the forefront of the Indian entertainment industry for the last five decades. These acquisitions underline the fact that we believe in bringing only the biggest and the best of entertainment to our viewers. This also reaffirms the strong relationship we share with eminent producer – director Mr. Yash Chopra since well over a decade. We are proud that the association continues on and here’s hoping for many more!”
Chopra added, “I have shared an excellent relationship with SET over the last 11 years and in continuation of that association we have finalized this five film deal with SET. We are happy to showcase these films on SET, which provides a great platform for the television premiere of the films.”
In the past all Yash Raj Films’ releases have been aired on SET channels – Sony and Max. Some of them being: Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Neal N Nikki, Salaam Namaste amongst others.
