MUMBAI: Neeraj Pandey’s well-appreciated film ‘Special Chabbis’ has now been made into a book. The cast of ‘Special 26’, were seen at Landmark stores here, to launch the book.

Though the face of ‘Special 26’, superstar Akshay Kumar was missing from the book launch, we glimpsed director Neeraj Pandey, veteran actor Anupam Kher (who, incidentally has received rave reviews for his performance in ‘Special 26’) and Manoj Bajpayee. The trio was extremely excited to see their film being made into a book, and spoke about their experiences filming it and also about the expectations people had. They all unanimously also said that they were happy that the film is being appreciated by audiences and critics alike.

Said Neeraj Pandey, when asked if the book was a knee-jerk reaction when the film started doing good business, “It’s not that the book went into writing last night and came out today. You must understand that it’s been an on-going process, and that the book has been in works for the last eight months. So it was supposed to happen this way. This book is the novel form of the original screenplay.”

Manoj Bajpayee, on being quizzed about his picture appearing on the back cover, quickly surmised: “This is a book about the con-men, and this (pointing to his own mug at the back cover) is the guy who is on their trail. So the designers must have thought of it this way, that’s all there is to it.”
