Studio 18 mops up Rs 380 million from Ghajini in India

MUMBAI: As the India distributors for the Aamir Khan blockbuster Ghajini, Studio 18 has pocketed Rs 380 million (Rs 38 crores) as its share in just one week.

When compared to other big movies that have released over the last couple of years, this is the highest share that any movie has managed to give the India distibutor in the movie’s entire run at the box office, forget one week.

Sample this, Ghajini’s one week distributor share for the domestic market is equal to or more than the total distributor share of movies like Om Shanti Om, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Partner and Lage Raho Munnabhai.

According to information available with Businessofcinema.com, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has, in its two week run, given its distributors – Yash Raj Films – Rs 350 million (Rs 35 crores) in India; Om Shanti Om box office run brought in Rs 380 million (Rs 38 crores) as Eros International’s share, whereas Partner’s distributors got a share of Rs 300 million (Rs 30 crores). Studio 18’s share from Welcome’s box office run was Rs 360 million (Rs 36 crores) and that from Singh Is Kinng was Rs 340 million (Rs 34 crores).
