Tata Interactive Systems develops 2D animation series for Cartoon Network

MUMBAI: Tata Interactive Systems has been working with ACK Media on creating a 2D animation series based on the stories of the Amar Chitra Katha comics. The series, spread over 26 episodes of 22 minutes each, is being aired on the TV channel, Cartoon Network.

ACK Media owns Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle, Karadi Tales and well-known proprietary characters like Suppandi. ACK Media approached TIS, with the requirement for an animated series on famous characters from Indian mythology and history. ACK Media provided the storyboards and character references, for the animation while TIS was given the responsibility of bringing to life the characters through fresh poses and beautiful backgrounds. The animation and post-production were handled by TIS.

TIS head – design and animation Manisha Mohan said, "Our animation team was used to delivering web and CD quality animation so far. Moving to TV quality animation, was a challenging and exciting journey for us. We were also able to leverage our inherent skills in character design and background creation, on this production. We hope that audiences young and old enjoy watching the series." Four episodes from the series have already been aired.

ACK animated series executive producer Savita Pai added, "We approached Tata Interactive because of their ability to deliver large projects and their proven animation capabilities. Matching ACK’s creative storytelling skills with TIS’ process-oriented approach has resulted in some good animated Amar Chitra Katha tales. Together with Cartoon Network, we hope to bring an entertaining and memorable cartoon series to the children of today."
