MUMBAI: Animation school Toonz Animation Academy will be launching its new facility in Mumbai on 5 July. Plans are also afoot to launch the same in Nagpur soon.

Located in Andheri, the Toonz Academy will have cutting-edge infrastructure, industry current workstations, international faculty and a global curriculum. Veteran animation professionals from across the world will visit the campus to conduct classes. The curriculum is holistic and includes personality development programs, acting classes and classes on evolving trends. Advanced animation labs will provide students with convenient access to state-of-the-art digital media equipment and entertainment technology.

Toonz CEO P Jayakumar said, “Setting up an Academy in Mumbai was on the cards for a long time because the city is the biggest entertainment hub in the country. We are thrilled that our plans have come to fruition. The animation industry is facing a dearth of trained talent and the growing demand-supply gap in manpower availability is hampering its growth. The new Academy is a step in the right direction to solve this problem.”

Toonz Academy will leverage its industry network to help students find suitable positions in multimedia studios and companies.

Toonz Academy executive director Ramprasad said, “The Academy is on an expansion mode and the Mumbai facility is the first in a series of groundbreaking initiatives planned for the future. We are going to open centres in all the key cities of India. The launch of the Nagpur Academy is slotted next.”

The courses offered by the Academy are the year-long Advanced Program in Classical and Digital Animation and Advanced Program in 3D Animation and Digital Arts, in addition to several Certificate Courses.
