ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD: The week began on a quiet note, with a host of Bollywood celebrities migrating to Macau for the weekend, for the annual IIFA awards night. Thumkas, latkas, jhatkas, red carpets, fraternity awards and celebrations later, they trooped back home, tired but happy. While SRK stole the show as host, Shahid Kapoor was quick to follow in his footsteps. Madhuri Dixit, Anushka Sharma, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Ayushmann Khurrana, Parineeti Chopra- the list of star-studded, glitzy performances was endless! Post the event, Mumbai airport was choc-a-bloc with the homecoming of our favourite Bollywood stars and their (mostly) stunning sartorial airport style statements.

BRAIN DRAIN: Hrithik Roshan, Bollywood’s very own homegrown superhero gave everyone a big scare by being admitted to hospital for a head injury. He was operated upon for a blood clot in the brain, and the entire country was gripped with panic and worry for his well-being. He made a speedy recovery, and was discharged within a few days, but not before a host of Bollywood celebrities could troop through the gates of the hospital to visit an ailing Hrithik. From Karan Johar, to Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal, Bollywood rallied around Hrithik to speed up his healing. Johar even gifted Hrithik a special personalised DVD copy of his latest flick ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’.

MONSOON MAGIC: Several new films were promoted, but the most interesting happenings in the trailer launch space were for those of ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ and ‘Madras Cafe’. The former stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra, and promises to be a refreshing ride dealing with romance, live-in relationships and the small-town life. Madras Cafe, starring John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri, is a more intense political thriller directed by Shoojit Sircar. Both the trailers looked promising, and audiences have much to look forward to in the monsoon months.
