TRAILER REVIEW: ‘Mickey Virus’ – This Isn’t Viral

DAR Motion Pictures after producing ‘D-Day’ have comeback with ‘Mickey Virus’. The film directed by Saurabh Varma, marks the debut of popular television host Manish Paul. The trailer of the film promises another saddi Dilli based comic caper. Apart there’s nothing viral and infectious about ‘Mickey Virus’.

MUMBAI: First it was aamchi Mumbai. And now focus has shifted to saddi Dilli. With films like ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Fukrey’ having their base set in Delhi, the political capital seems to be a hot destination for Bollywood currently. Adding to this list is Saurabh Varma’s ‘Mickey Virus’.

Unlike ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Fukrey’ trailers, which created a buzz among audiences, sadly ‘Mickey Virus’ leaves us little confused.

While the trailer doesn’t reveal much about the plot, all we see is the Delhi police hunting for a hacker who’s creating havoc in the city. And the only person (they feel so) can match up to them is lazy lad ‘Mickey Virus’ aka Manish Paul (making a debut into Bollywood after his stint as a popular television host) and his group of friends with weird names (Pancho, Floppy, Chutney, seriously!)

‘Mickey Virus’ marks the debut of Saurabh Varma, who earlier has been behind the publicity and marketing of several films. Sadly his marketing expertise comes little handy here and we see a confused, regular promo, which keeps us away just like we would from opening a malicious virus in reality.

A virus is more infectious and can make one go bonkers. Sadly the trailer of ‘Mickey Virus’ isn’t. Will have to see if the charm of Manish Paul and his transition to Bollywood will add some luck to ‘Mickey Virus.’
