MUMBAI: UTV Spotboy has launched three new films namely – Aage Se Right, Pan Singh Tomar and Peter Gaya Kaam Se. It may be recalled that Businessofcinema.com was the first to report about UTV Spotboy signing Rajeev Khandelwal for Peter Gaya Kaam Se.
This announcement comes following the successful box office run of Aamir and Welcome To Sajjanpur. The movies were made on a budget of Rs 25 million (Rs 2.5 crores) and Rs 60 million (Rs 6 crores) respectively.
While Aamir has grossed Rs 60 million, Welcome to Sajjanpur has so far grossed Rs 100 million (Rs 10 crores) and is still running across theatres.
Aage Se Right, Pan Singh Tomar and Peter Gaya Kaam Se are being made on a budget ranging from Rs 50 – Rs 150 million (Rs 5 – 15 crores).
UTV Spotboy COO Vikas Behl says, "Spotboy wants to continue with its endeavour of well told interesting stories as we believe that script is the king. Our audience wants a surprise and delight each time they walk into the theatre and that is all we want to live up to."
Aage Se Right is currently on floors and will be completed by March next year. The film stars Shreyas Talpade, Kay Kay Menon and Mahi Gill. It is directed by ad film maker Indrajit Natoji. It is a story of chance, co incidence and real life humor. The film is based in present day Mumbai and spans over five days of panic, chaos and mayhem.
Pan Singh Tomar stars Irrfan Khan and is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. The film will mount sets in November. The female lead for the film is currently being decided. This film is a true story of a talented runner from a small town in Madhya Pradesh who turned into a rebel.
Peter Gaya Kaam Se stars Khandelwal. It will go on floors by December and will be directed by ex-channel [V] creative director John Owen. This is a fast paced action adventure with a romantic twist that tells the story of Peter who is a football-crazy motorcycle taxi rider who quits his job in Goa. But his boss Bosco persuades him to do one last job, which will change his life forever.
These movies apart, other UTV Spotboy productions include Main Aur Mrs Khanna starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor, but the budget of this film is much higher than the other films under Spotboy. Anurag Kashyap directed Dev D, starring Abhay Deol and Mahi Gill will release towards year end.
The banner has also signed Mukul Abhyankar for two films, one of which is called Ram Leela.
