UTV Spotboy’s maiden film Aamir wraps up

MUMBAI: UTV Spotboy’s movie Aamir has wrapped up its shooting. The movie is directed by Rajkumar Gupta and will mark television actor Rajeev Khandelwal’s debut into movies.

Gupta has worked as an associate director with Anurag Kashyap on Black Friday and No Smoking. Incidentally, Kashyap is also the creative producer on the film.

“Aamir is a cutting edge, thriller film about a middle class boy from Mumbai. Except for Rajeev, we have cast mostly theatre actors. A lot of people including me have debuted with this movie,” says Gupta.

Talking about the shift from TV to movies, Khandelwal says, “On TV, no one works on developing characters, one can earn money on TV but there is no satisfaction. I am looking forward to a career in Bollywood. I would return to TV only to do something different.”

Informing about the various projects under UTV Spotboy, executive vice president and creative director Vikas Bahl says, “Aamir went on floors in November last year. Around the same time, Shyam Benegal’s movie Mahadev starring Shreyas Talpade, Amrita Rao and Ravi Kishan also went on floors in Hyderabad. Anurag Kashyap’s DevD starring Abhay Deol will go on floors by February end. We have also signed a film with Majid Majidi.”
