Mumbai: After making a thriller like Aankhen and a family film- Waqt – The Race Against Time, producer-director Vipul Shah is gearing up for his love story – Namaste London. Vipul says, “It’s not going to be a run-of-the-mill love story. I will be approaching the film in a very different manner so that it stands apart from the 40 love stories that are made in Bollywood every year”.
Vipul has signed Hollywood cinematographer Peter Field to do the cinematography for the movie and says, “Peter has done cinematography for films like Troy, Tomb Raider, Tomorrow Never Dies and The Da Vinci Code so to sign him was definitely a very expensive affair but I am sure that his creative output will be much more than the signing amount”.
By working with Peter he hopes to shoot London differently, and depict it in way that has never been done in Indian films. The film is expected to go on floor by July end and will be shot in London on a 60-day schedule. His 30-crore endeavour will also be shot in Punjab, Kerala and the Himalayas.
The film stars Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Upen Patel and Rishi Kapoor in the lead. When asked if he would be signing any Britsh actors for the film, he said, “Discussion are on with a few British actors but everything will be finalized when I fly to London next week to meet them. I wanted to sign on Sen Connery’s son but he did not suit the role.”
Namaste London however, will not be starring his wife Shefali Shah who had previously played a role opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Waqt – The Race Against Time.
“After giving a hit like Waqt I know that expectations have increased from me and I am obliged to our audience for that. But all I can say is that I treat every film as my first film and give it my best shot so that I can fulfill the changing demands of the audience.”
